  • When choosing a training organisation contact and visit at least 3 organisations
  • Are they ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Training) registered? This register is available to view on the Driving Standards Agency website
  • Is an assessment of your suitability to become an ADI carried out beforehand?
  • What theory training materials do you receive?
  • Is the in car training done on a 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 basis?
  • If 2 to 1 how much time will you actually have in the drivers seat being taught?
  • How many hours of 1 to 1 in car training do you receive?
  • Do you have the option of doing the part 2 and 3 in car training in regular 2 hour blocks or is it only intensive week or two week courses?
  • How flexible is the booking of in car training? What is the average waiting time for an in car training session to be available?
  • How long will the training course take to complete?
  • How much is the total cost (including books, paperwork, in car training and test fees)?
  • Find out full details of any additional training that may be required – how will the training be administered and delivered?
  • How flexible is the course to suit your training needs?
  • What at are the payment options and refund rules/procedures?
  • At your first meeting with the training organisation are you allowed to go away and think about your decision before signing up to go ahead or do you feel pressured in to committing that day?
  • Give careful consideration to offers that sound too good.
