Training to become a driving instructor with DRM Driver Training is designed, and is flexible, to fit around your current commitments.

You start with an introductory drive to meet your tutor, be given advice on areas of your driving that need worked on and collect your training materials that cover the theory of all three parts of the test.

Your part 1 training material is a modular home study course taking you through the books in a structured order with mini tests at the end of each module to track your progress. Should you require any advice during this time the tutor and office staff can be contacted by telephone. During this time you work through a manual of practical projects to help you improve your own driving.

Your part 2 training is 13.5 hours in-car training on a 1 to 1 basis. There is also preparation home study material on driving styles and faults.

Your part 3 training is 40 hours in-car training on a 1 to 1 basis. There is also preparation home study material on all aspects of delivering lessons, such as lesson plans and question and answer technique.

The in-car training on the part 2 and 3 is arranged in 2 hour blocks on days and times to suit you. Tutors provide training during the day, some evenings and on 1 day at the weekend.

Following the 40 hours part 3 training you do have the option of taking on a trainee licence. The Driving Standards Agency issue the licence for 6 months which allows you to be legally paid for giving driving instruction whilst being supervised/receiving additional training from your tutor.
