Extended Driving Test

If you’ve been disqualified from driving, the court can order that you sit an extended driving test.  At the end of your disqualification period, you will have to go through the learner process again, i.e. applying for a provisional licence, retaking the Theory and Hazard Perception test and sitting the extended driving test.

The extended test is longer than the normal test and lasts for around 70 minutes, during which you will cover a wide variety of roads, usually including dual carriageways.

If you find yourself in this situation, DRM can help you regain your licence as quickly as possible, using the DRM Training Formula. Your DRM instructor will do an initial Assessment Drive with you, to check that you haven’t picked up any bad habits and then recommend how many more lessons you’ll need to get back up to test standard.

More information on extended driving tests can be found on the Direct.gov web site.
