DRM Driver Training, Central Scotland
- Driving & Theory Tests -
You are strongly advised NOT to book your driving test until your DRM instructor advises you to do so. DRM Instructors reserve the right not to present pupils for test if they consider that the pupil is not ready for a test or that the pupil may be a danger to the public during the test.
The Theory Test
The New Theory Test is now in two parts (which includes the Hazard Perception test)
The first part is a multiple choice test of your knowledge of the Theory of Driving; there are 50 questions and you must get 43 correct to pass this part
The second part tests your Hazard Perception skills by showing you 14 video clips of road scenes, in which there are 15 'developing hazards'. The sooner you 'click the mouse' to show you have seen the hazard, the more marks you get (5 being the maximum per hazard). You must score 44 out of 75 to pass this part.
You must pass both parts of the New Theory Test at the same sitting. (You cannot pass them one at a time.)
The test lasts for about 11/2 hours and you must be at the Test Centre at least 15 minutes before your test is due to begin.
The Test Fee is £30.00 and is paid to the DSA.
You must have your signed provisional photo licence plus the counterpart (or the old style non photo licence plus your passport) and your theory test appointment letter (or failing this your booking reference number) with you or you will not be allowed to sit the test.
Should you have difficulty in travelling to the test centre, you can arrange a 2 hour (or longer as required) lesson with your DRM Instructor, during which you will drive yourself to and from the test.

- An oral test of mechanical safety checks - 2 questions one 'show me' the other 'tell me'; If you get both wrong, you get one 'driving error'
- The practical driving test - You must not make any Dangerous or Serious faults but are allowed up to 15 'driving errors' before you fail
The Standard Test Fee is £56.50 (for evening or weekend tests the fee is £69) and is paid to the DSA.
You must have your appointment card, signed provisional photo licence plus the counterpart (or the old style non photo licence plus your passport) and your theory test pass confirmation with you or you will not be allowed to sit the test.
